RODENTS

From mice to rats, rodents are a pest no one wants to deal with. Rodents are adept invaders that only need a small opening to squeeze through,  will eat almost anything, and breed rapidly.  Rodents are a problem for homes and business. They cause harm to family and pets, damage property, and ruin the reputation of a business.

House Mice

  • Small slender rodent with solid color coats of light brown and grey
  • Protruding eyes and thin wiskers
  • Virtually hairless tails
  • They spread disease through food contamination. These diseases include salmonella, hantavirus, plague, leptospirosis, and Lassa fever.

Field Mice

  • Small rodent with brown or tan fur with white bellies and legs
  • Tails are dark on top and light on the bottom.  It is short about the same size as their body.
  • Like house mice, they spread disease through food contamination. These diseases include salmonella, hantavirus, plague, leptospirosis, and Lassa fever.

Norway Rats

  • They are much larger than house and field mice.
  • Their fur is shaggy and is brown or grey.
  • To get inside, Norway rats will find an entry point and gnaw to make it bigger. They can chew through wood, pipes, and wires, causing immense damage in the process.

How to Prevent an Infestation?

  • Seal cracks and holes on the outside of the property, including areas where utilities and pipes enter, using caulk, steel wool or a combination of both.  Even if a hole seems small to you, a rat or mouse can easily make its way in.
  • Properly store all food, including pet food. We recommend airtight containers.
  • Secure garbage both inside and outside of your property by ensuring they have lids that close as intended.
  • Inspect items such as boxes, grocery bags and other packages brought into the home.
  • Keep your yard maintained and clean up dog feces, birdseed, fallen fruit, and nuts.
